Kristi Kuhnen

Web/IT Intern

Kristi Kuhnen is finishing up her final quarter at the University of Denver, where she is majoring in Digital Media Studies and French, with a minor in Japanese. Ever since middle school when she discovered the internet, she has developed a passion for user-friendly web design and development. Through her internship at the Open Media Foundation, she hopes to pursue these interests while bringing the power of new media technology to the general public. Originally from Connecticut, she moved out west for a change from the fast-paced environment of New England, and studied abroad in Tokyo to strengthen her Japanese language skills as well as experience first-hand a culture completely different to her own. When she is not working or studying, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and discovering Denver.

Eric Peterson

Web/IT Intern

My name is Eric Peterson, I’m a third year student at the University of Denver, studying Digital Media and Computer Science.  When I’m not studying or developing websites and applications, I’m actively involved in the Denver underground music community: playing electric piano in Houses and guitar and vocals in Old Radio.  I also engineer in-studio performances at DU’s radio station, KVDU.  I’m looking forward to applying, and even more so learning development skills here at the OMF.

Zach Nichols

Production / Post-Production Intern

Zach is a newcomer to the Open Media Foundation. He is from Madison, Wisconsin where he will be entering his Junior year at the University of Wisconsin in the fall. A Communication Arts (Radio, TV, Film) Major, Zach formerly attended the University of Detroit. He has been an artist since childhood, but began combining his love of art with computers as an animation student at Kettle Moraine High School. He has worked with all forms of animation and won several Gold Key awards for films such as King Kong (Redux), a monty-python animation style remake of the classic King Kong. More recently Zach has worked on documentaries such as University District, a film about the rich history of one of Detroit's most famous neighborhoods, and a sports documentary entitled I Am A Titan. Along with his passion for film and production, Zach is also an avid graphic designer in his free time and hopes to be a film director one day. He is quickly falling in love with Colorado and is excited about joining the OMF family. Interesting Fact: Zach plays lacrosse for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Nathan Barsness

Development and Community Relations Intern

I am a philosophy major in my senior year at the University of Colorado at Denver and a musician in several local bands.  I see my internship with the Open Media Foundation as an ideal way to explore my passion for the arts and discover all I can about human value as it is demonstrated by the media in the modern age.  I expect to learn a lot during my internship and I hope to find a meaningful way of contributing to my community through OMF!

Becca Marion

Media Education Intern

Becca is a junior at Scripps College, where she is majoring in Media Studies with a concentration in Film/Video Production. She became interested in video making at age 12 when she used her family’s home video camera to make a murder mystery movie. Since that time, she has made many more videos for fun, school, volunteer projects, and work. Besides analyzing mainstream media and making videos, her interests include singing a cappella, listening to her Pandora radio stations, and going on spontaneous bike rides. Glad to be back home in colorful Colorado for the summer, she is excited for the opportunity to be involved with the Open Media Foundation’s community-empowering approach to media and communications.

David Wemple

Studio Coordination Intern

I am recent graduate of the University of Colorado where I received a BA in Film Studies. I was born and raised just north of Chicago. In high school, I was first introduced to the idea of film studies and since then I have concentrated almost entirely on studying film. I love working on all levels of film making and television production from writing, directing, broadcasting, editing and even acting. I enjoy everything Colorado has to offer, hiking, biking, camping, climbing and above all skiing. I also enjoy traveling, my favorite destination being Paris, where I hope to live someday.

Zachary Current

Studio Coordination Youth Intern

Zachary Current just wants to be funny. He wants to learn at Open Media so that he can make things that are funny. His parents want him to learn at Open Media so that he's not home, slacking off and racking up the electric bill. And, now, here he is.
